The Miami Young Adult Division (Miami YAD) held its Annual General Meeting on October 5, with 18 enthusiastic young members in attendance. The meeting was co-chaired by President Harrison and Vice President Marlene, with Venerable Neng Kang, Association President Ms. Yan Hua Deng, and Association Supervisor also invited to attend, bearing witness to this meaningful moment of faith and continuity for the youth group.
At the start of the meeting, the group reviewed highlights from 2025, which included activities in Buddhist study, community service, and cultural promotion—showcasing the energy and dedication of young Buddha’s Light members. The members also discussed plans for 2026, aiming to deepen their faith through innovative approaches and further expand the influence of Humanistic Buddhism.
This year’s meeting also coincided with the election of new officers, conducted openly and fairly in accordance with the group’s bylaws. Each candidate shared their vision of service and plans for implementation, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and mission of the younger generation. Under the supervision of the Association’s inspector, a new leadership team was elected:
President: Raina Shiu
Vice President: Maddox Tse
Secretary: Situ Ning
Treasurer: Kylin Wu
Social Media & Communications: Yulin Wu
Public Relations: Riley Tse
Event Organization: Justin Huang
Under this new leadership, Miami YAD symbolizes the passing of the torch of faith, heralding a new era where the youth group will move forward with renewed vigor and steadfast belief toward a brighter future.
Newly elected President Raina Shiu expressed gratitude to the previous leadership team for their guidance and hard work. She also shared her hopes to work hand in hand with the committee, upholding the mission of “serving the community, transmitting the Dharma, and developing the organization.” She aspires to lead members in continuous growth, making the youth group a platform for faith practice and personal development.
Venerable Neng Kang encouraged the youth during the meeting, emphasizing that “the inheritance of faith is not merely a formal transition but the continuation of the Dharma itself.” He urged the young members to let compassion and wisdom guide their lives, embodying the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism and allowing its light to shine brightly in the new generation.
